Watch Instructions – NH34 Movement (GMT Mod)

🔧 Understanding GMT Functionality

GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) watches display a second time zone in addition to your local time. A 24-hour hand (usually in a different color) rotates once every 24 hours and points to a 24-hour scale, either on the bezel or the dial.

This is perfect for:

  • Tracking time in another country or time zone.

  • Coordinating international calls or meetings.

  • Travel and aviation.

⚙️ Setting Your GMT Watch

Your watch likely uses a NH34 or similar movement. Follow these steps to set the time and GMT hand.

1. Unscrew the Crown (if applicable)

If your watch has a screw-down crown:

  • Turn it counterclockwise until it pops out.

2. Set the Time

  • Pull the crown out to the second position (furthest out).

  • Turn the crown to set the main hour and minute hands.

  • Set your local time.

📝 Tip: Move the hands past 12 once to see if the date changes—this helps you identify AM/PM.

3. Set the GMT Hand

  • Push the crown to the first position (middle click).

  • Turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise (depending on the movement) to adjust the 24-hour GMT hand.

🧭 Tip: Set the GMT hand to a second time zone or your home time when traveling.

4. Set the Date (if your watch has one)

  • With the crown still in the first position, turn in the opposite direction to adjust the date.

⚠️ Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM — it could damage the movement.

5. Push and Secure the Crown

  • Push the crown all the way back in.

  • If it’s a screw-down crown, screw it clockwise until secure.

💡 Reading the GMT Hand

  • The GMT hand makes one full rotation every 24 hours.

  • Use the 24-hour bezel or scale to read the second time zone.

  • Example: If your GMT hand points to “16” on the bezel, it’s 4 PM in that second time zone.

⏱️ Watch Care & Tips

  • Water Resistance: Make sure the crown is pushed/screwed in before getting your watch wet.

  • Movement: This is an automatic watch – it winds itself while on your wrist.

    • If not worn for a day or two, hand-wind it (15-20 turns clockwise) or give it a gentle shake.

  • Accuracy: Normal tolerance for NH34 is ±20 to 40 seconds per day.

🧼 Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Use a soft cloth to clean your watch regularly.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures and magnetic fields.

  • Service your watch every 3-5 years for optimal performance.
